Wedding collections

Had created a wedding collection album over in facebook. Here are some of the recent i like to share. And the very first time for ROM, I am not using any flash/speed light.





Achieving such result are as easy. Lighting has just fit into the 2500k temperature of the WB. Do a test shot, set to manual mode, and ready to fire.

Ray and Elaine

The second time I am shooting in Sheraton Hotel for a wedding dinner.


Ray was so busy before, during and even after the wedding dinner.

Take note guys if you are shooting there. There wont be any spot light when marching in. So, please make sure you really pump up your iso high enough, or prepare to fire your flash.

Event Photography

In event like this, you will need to fire few more times.

POV Photography

Point of View Photography.
Don't be afraid to go as low, as high, or as extrem angle.

Maco @ Botanic Garden

Ok, I am not a pro macro shooter, still, some small and affortable equipment can help you with very nice close up shots. The following photos are taken with a 28mm f2.8 with a kenko extension tube and 2X tc. Flash are fired off camera using CLS in TTL mode. This is a really great outing with the Singapore Photographer group, as some of us as professional photographer, get a chance to escape from work and have some really relax and natural shoots.

Close up

Was taken with a 28mm f2.8 lens. You need to put on a 2x tele convertor, follow by extension tube to get such working distance.

Old Lens

Just to show off some of my old lens.
This shot of Ungku was taken by my 85 F1.8 AF lens. Its not even the AFD version. The result i get for it was, sharp.

The small lens on the table was a Tokina 17mm F3.5 lens. On a crop sensor, this lens will not show its full potential, but on a full frame camera like a D3, 17mm is wide.
Wide angle full frame lens are expensive. But the Tokina 17mm cost around SGD 300. It focus down to 25cm, which is super useful for set up shots during events, and wide close up shots. The build in metal lens hood just make the lens feel so pro.

Singapore Photographers 1st Anniversary

The Singapore Photographers 1st Anniversary in Supper Club. This cake is heavy.
Over 50 names are on the cake of those winners of photo of the week in facebook group.

Credits for the cake goes to the lady in the middle, Sheikha. It is heavy

This to Ungku skin head too, I won a S550 camera in a photo hunt game. Lucky am i man. Now i can record better videos for upcoming personal shoot. A upgrade instead of using my Hp. Haha.

Shooting Wireless

The Nikon CLS has always been great and friendly to use around, but still up to a limitation. The IR signal wont be able to send over if it is block by a subject. Just got in the Phottix (version 2) PT-04 wireless trigger.


There are still up to a 10% of miss fire rate, but i think its really reasonable with the price you pay for it. Have tried the trigger in a close room, have no miss fire at 9fps on my D3.

I need to comment on this 2 guitarist for the great entrainment. They play, sing, Chinese, English, Malay and event Kokkian song.


The couple was busy just before the march in.

Here is a tips for photographers. If you are shooting march in like this, you may use a Aperature mode, flash off, and get your metering to the center part of the photo. Y no flash??? Yes, the spot light is bright enough.

Coffee shop talk

This small gathering is created by Magnesium Alloy Rice Bowl. Its really cool to share ideas, ways of shooting, setting, among each other. Even it is just a simple bounce card with a smiling face.

Ok, we tested the both AFD and the new AFS 50mm f1.4. Both lens are on each D3, and to my suprise, the AFD version focus alot faster than the AFS version. The boken on the new AFS is better. Therefore, I will still choose the cheaper, lighter, smaller, and faster focus AFD f1.4 D


Some DIY stuff, if you happened to have a wide angle convertor, you can turn it into a fisheye lens, will show some result later on my blog.
